Graveside services for Jo Ann Brown Shields, 72, of Andrews will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the Abernathy Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Don Cheshire, pastor of the Abernathy First United Methodist Church, officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Ms. Shields died Saturday, May 1, 2004, in Andrews.

She was born July 13, 1931 in Abernathy to Thomas Ottie Brown and Blanche Mock Brown. She was a graduate of Abernathy High School and Texas Tech University in 1952. She married Kenneth Dale Shields. He preceded her in death in 1982. She taught school in Andrews for 43 years and retired in 1992. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ormand Kenneth, Joe Tom, and James Brown.

She is survived by a sister, Mildred Becker and her husband, William, of Lubbock. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Deborah Becker, Linda Heathington, and Martha, Jana, Robert and Joe Tom "Butch" Brown; and a great and good friend, Mona G. Tinsley of Andrews.
