Funeral services for Jimmie Sherman, 80, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in first United Methodist Church with Dr. Max Browning, pastor officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

Mr. Sherman died at 9:19 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, Prairie House Living Center.

He was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Cisco, the son of the late John C. and Maggie Sherman. He moved to Plainview in 1929 and graduated from Plainview High School. He was owner of Sherman?s Plainview Plumbing Co. from 1945 to 1990.

He was a 40-year member of First United Methodist Church where he served on the board of stewards, a member of the Plainview Noon Lions Club, and was past president of the local Plainview Plumbers Association. He was very active and involved in Girls Town USA.

On July 9, 1939, he married Mary True in Plainview.

Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Nova Sherman of Plainview; a sister Charlsey Chisum of Plano; a niece, Bette Cox of Plano; two granddaughters and their spouses, Jennifer and Kyle Streun of Olton and Janna and Cody Bennett of Plainview; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan, KyLea and Jackson Streun and Andrew and Riley Bennett.

A son, Bill Elkins Sherman, is deceased.

The family suggests memorials to VistaCare Family Hospice, First United Methodist Church, or to the Parkinson?s Foundation.
