Obituary

Sarah Jane Sherlock, 79, of Fort Worth, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, in Plainview Memorial Park with her son Gary officiating. Services are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. Sarah Jane Hand was born to Alden Lee and Jewell Hand on March 15, 1933, in Rogers, Ark. Sarah married Gayle William Sherlock on Nov. 7, 1954, in Amarillo. Gayle and Sarah ran their own custom harvest business for 12 years out of Clovis, N.M. Due to health issues, they decided to move to Plainview to pursue other job opportunities. At that time, Sarah became a full time housewife/mother, actively involved in church. After a tragic vehicle accident in 1999, Sarah became Gayle's No. 1 caregiver and traveling companion. They had the opportunity to travel across the United States and Canada, which they did for 23 years and enjoyed every minute of it until Gayle's sudden death. After Gayle's death, Sarah moved to Fort Worth to live with her son Gary and his family for the past nine years.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Gayle, both parents and two brothers. She is survived by her son Gary and wife Kim and their three children and grandchild, Travis and April Sherlock of Burleson, great-grandchild Caleb Sherlock, Chad and Carolyn Sherlock of Arlington and Katie Sherlock of Fort Worth, one sister of Lubbock, one brother of Clovis, N.M., one brother of Great Falls, Mont., and one brother of Houston.
