Obituary

Our Precious wife, mother, and grandmother Freda Sherley went to be with the Lord on Dec. 2, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Harvest Christian Fellowship with the Rev. Paul Cypert and assisted by the Rev. Jay Simpson, chaplain of Area Community Hospice. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mrs. Sherley died at 10:13 p.m. in her home after a lengthy illness in Plainview. She was born Oct. 17, 1938, in Erick, Okla. She graduated from high school in Santa Rosa, N.M., in 1956. On May 8, 1958, she married J.D. "Jerry" Sherley in Amherst, Texas and they moved to Plainview in 1965. Mrs. Sherley and her husband owned and operated J.D.'s Pipe and Supply for more than 30 years where she served as the bookkeeper until they sold the business and retired 4 1/2 years ago. She was a member of the Plainview Area Bowling League for well over 20 years. She was an active member of Harvest Christian Fellowship for more than 10 years where she served as prayer partner. She also served on Compassionate Care Pregnancy Center board of directors as the treasurer for two years. Freda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her deep love and devotion for Christ was a reflection to all who knew her. She was a woman of strength and a woman of noble character. She leaves a powerful Godly legacy to those who were fortunate enough to call her friend, sister, wife, mother or grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Sherley; four daughters, Sharon Wyatt of Plainview, Jan Ragland and her husband, Ronny, of Plainview, Marcy Sherley of Lubbock, Texas and Jerrivon Thomas and her husband, Tony of Plainview; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nell Stanley of Sudan, Texas, Becky Otwell of Muleshoe, Texas and Debbie Lee of Amarillo, Texas; four brothers, Ron Kinnie of Portland, Ore., John Kinnie, Larry Kinnie and Donnie Kinnie, all of Sudan, Texas. Freda is preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Mildred (Wooly) Kinnie. The family will receive friends at Kornerstone Funeral Directors, 201 W. Fourth, from 6-7 p.m. today.
