Obituary

Services for Aubrey Lee Shaver, 80, of Hale Center, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, in the First Baptist Church with Bro. Carrol Green officiating. Burial will follow in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center, Texas. The family will gather to receive friends Friday, Sept. 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Family Center at Abell Funeral Home. Mr. Shaver died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, in Plainview, Texas. He was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Knox City, Texas, to Aubrey A. and Louie Lee (Grinstead) Shaver. Aubrey Lee was raised in Rochester and moved to Hale County with his family at the age of 14. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and was stationed at Kelly AFB. While stationed in Germany, he met Audrey Flowers and to their union was born a son, John Richard Shaver. Mr. Shaver continued his military service as part of the Special Intelligence Division and was honorably discharged from McGuire AFB, New Jersey, in 1962. He married Rosa Estella Jimenez and to this union was born four children, Nancy, Sara, Nikolas and Nathan. He was an avid motorcyclist, a member of the American Legion and member of the First Baptist Church in Hale Center. He is survived by his five children, John Richard Shaver and wife Tina of Oklahoma, Nancy Rodriguez and husband Jason and Sara Curtis and husband Cody, all of Plainview, Texas, Nikolas Shaver and Nathan Shaver and wife Alex all of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Richard G. "Dick" Shaver and wife Peggy of Hale Center; two sisters, Cheryl Lyles and husband A.B. of Kress, Texas, and Ann Shaver of Hale Center. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Kristy, Haley, Xavier, Seth, Mariah, Sweye, Riley, Aiden, Raelyn, Khyla, Christopher and Kinsley and five great-grandchildren, Amber, Asia, Amos and Alvino.
