Shannon, Ralph M.

Funeral services for Ralph M. Shannon, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Halfway with the Rev. Gordon Benson, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Shannon died at 8:05p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, in Prairie House Living Center.

He was born Nov. 17, 1914, in Donley County. He graduated from Clarendon High School in 1935 and attended Panhandle A&M at Goodwell, Okla. He had lived in Hale County since 1937 and farmed in Halfway from 1948-86 before retiring and moving to Plainview.

He served on the board of the Co-op Gin and Co-op Oil Mill. He was a member of First baptist Church of Halfway and Farm Bureau.

He married Elizabeth K. Keniston on Nov. 18, 1939, in Aiken. She died Nov. 26, 1996.

Surviving are five brothers, Raymond Shannon of Tulia, W.F. ?Bill? Shannon Jr. of Lubbock, Harold N. Shannon of Dallas, Ted Shannon of Fairfield, Calif., and Rex Shannon of San Antonio, Two sisters, Nell Berry of Universal city, Texas, and Mary Ruth Bond of Gainesville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A brother, William P. Shannon, died in 1993.
