Obituary

Violet Ruth Shackelford, 87, of Plainview, died on July 10, 2012, in Plainview. Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the funeral home. Violet was born June 19, 1925, to Myles and Lena Hester in Douglas, Ariz. She graduated from Douglas High School. In the 1950s she moved to Plainview where she attended First Assembly of God. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Roy Roberts for 30 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Myles and Lena; four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her three children, Jackie Shaw and husband Phillip of Kermit, Wallace Shackelford of Plainview and Ronnie Shackelford and wife Kay of Plainview; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
