Shackelford, John Roy (Shack), Mrs. (Della Elizabeth (Dell) Young)

Funeral services for Della E. ?Dell? Shackelford, 70, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Horace P. Abbott, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Shackelford died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday Feb. 24, 2001, at her residence.

She was born April 26, 1930, in Blanchard, Okla. And attended schools in Oklahoma. She moved to Plainview in 1947 and worked for Furr?s Supermarket, Thunderbird Cafeteria and as a seamstress.

She married John Roy Shackelford in 1946 in Fort Smith, Ark. He died Nov. 10, 1994.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliaries of the VFW and American Legion and coordinated the Voice of Democracy contest for the VFW.

Surviving are a loving friend, Al White of Plainview; two daughters, Jody Adams of Atoka, Okla. and Judy Hardin of Amarillo; a son, Linn A. Shackelford of Antlers, Okla.; a sister, Pairlee Hooten of Normal, Okla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Three brother, two sisters and a grandson are deceased.
