Obituary

ABERNATHY -- Funeral services for Maxine Settle, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Church of Christ with David Bennett and the Rev. John Lowrie officiating. Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Settle died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, in Lubbock. She was born July 8, 1926, in Collinsville. She was a longtime Abernathy resident and a member of the Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school for many years. She also was a World Bible School correspondence teacher. On Oct. 28, 1944, she married W.T. Settle in Abernathy. Survivors include her husband; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sharon Settle of Edmonson; a daughter and son-in-law, Reta and Clay Mimms of Lazbuddie; seven grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters. The family suggests memorials to the World Bible School, 4326 Hillsdale Lane, Garland, TX 75042 or to a favorite charity.
