Obituary

Jean Setliff, 76, of Plainview passed away Monday, May 2, 2011, in Lubbock. A memorial reception and visitation will be held in her honor beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, at her home, 2900 W. 16th St., Plainview, Texas. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Jean was born Oct. 18, 1934, in Flomot, Texas, to Elmer "Bob" Self and Elva Whitehorn Self. She was raised in Turkey, Texas, and graduated from Turkey High School. While in high school she met J.A. "Alan" Setliff. Jean and Alan were married Jan. 15, 1955, in Childress, Texas. Jean was a superb homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing. She made wonderful clothing for her family. Jean truly was a domestic artist. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. Jean is survived by her husband of 56 years, Alan Setliff, of Plainview; daughters, Teresa Setliff Landers, and her husband, Mike, of Bellaire, Texas, and Jo Setliff of Chandler, Ariz.; and a son, Robert Setliff of Redondo Beach, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial donations may be made in Jean's name to the Hale County Senior Citizens Center, 1107 Smyth St., Plainview, TX 79072.
