Obituary
Dale Setliff, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, was carried from this life by the angels into our heavenly father?s loving arms on Sept. 7, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, in the 11th and Amarillo Church of Christ. Plainview, Texas. Officiating will be Dee Teel and Gerald Bedwell with burial in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. She had bravely fought a battle against Alzheimer?s and courageously endured its terrible atrocities to her mind and frail body. Now our Lord is giving her sweet rest, which she so richly deserves. We are glad her battle is over, but we will sorely miss her sweet presence. "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life." Proverbs 31:10-12. These words truly describe this dear lady. Dale was born March 15, 1914, to Ernest and Orpha Morrison who preceded her in death. She graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1931 and spent several of her early years reporting community news for the Turkey Enterprise newspaper. She married Hubert E. Setliff on Nov. 26, 1936, in the Briscoe County Courthouse in Silverton, Texas. They shared more than 67 years of marriage. They farmed near Quitaque and Turkey until moving to Plainview in January 1948. She was a loving, devoted wife, a wonderful mother to her two daughters and was ready to help in her own quiet way anyone who asked. She was a marvelous seamstress and loved to sew (especially for her family) until she became unable because of her illness. Her family was always first in her heart after her God and she could not do enough for them as long as she was able. Rest now, darling mother. We?ll meet you again some day. Dale is survived by her devoted husband; two daughters, Martha Rhoades and husband, Kenneth, and Myra Booth Reece and husband, Tommy, all of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren, Kenny Rhoades of Oceanside, Calif., Kayla Fambrough of Arlington, Texas, Justin, Charla and Lannon Booth and Kandice Rhoades of Lubbock, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Emily and Jeb Fambrough and Nathan Booth; one sister, Ina Ruth (Pat) Lane and husband, Birt, of Plainview, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. A niece and a great-niece are named after Dale. A fourth great-grandchild is expected soon. Preceding her in death along with her parents, a beloved sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Lawrence Bedwell, and brother, Murry, and son-in-law, Gene Booth. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer?s Research, The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society, ALS Research, Vista Care Family Hospice or Fruit of The Spirit Private Care Home.
