Obituary

AMARILLO - Funeral services for Dorothy Setliff, 75, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in St. Stephen?s United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Smith, pastor, and Eddie Messer, minister of Central Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors. Mrs. Setliff died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002. She was born Dorothy Wynette True on Oct. 14, 1926, in Goree, the daughter of Snode and Nettie True. She was the sixth of eight children. As a youngster, she moved with her family to a farm near Plainview. After graduating from Plainview High School in 1944 she attended Texas Tech University. On Aug. 21, 1948, she married Bennie Setliff in Plainview. They moved to California where they stayed until 1969 when they moved to Borger. They later moved to Amarillo. She was an accomplished seamstress and made baskets, pillows, skirts and other items she sold at craft fairs. She also enjoyed playing golf. She was a member of St. Stephen?s United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sandy Setliff of Dallas and Melissa Braughton and her husband Dan of The Colony; a son, Stan Setliff of Odessa; two brothers, S.M. True Jr., and Riley True, both of Plainview; two sisters, Mary Sherman of Plainview and Ona Belle Stephens of Lampe, Mo.; and six grandchildren. A daughter, Karol, died in 1983. The family suggests memorials to the outreach project for senior citizens, A Time to Share, P.O. Box 50005, Amarillo, TX 79159, or to a favorite charity.
