Sell, Barry (Blue)

Petersburg- Funeral services for Barry "Blue" Sell, 55, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church of Abernath, officiating.

Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Mr. Sell died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, in Covenant Medical Center.

He was born July 8, 1948, in Plainview. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1966 and from Texas Tech in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in animal science. He retired from farming and sales in December 2001.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from June 1966 to March 1969. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Air Crew Wings Air Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation and Good Conduct Medal. He also was certified as a .45-caliber Pistol Expert and an M-14 Rifle Expert.

He was a member of Petersburg First Baptist Church.

On April 19, 1997, he married Sue Barnes in Dickens.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kimberly Sell and Susan Sell, both of Lubbock; two sons, John Brandon Sell of Lubbock and Bobby Don Chapman Jr., of Petersburg; a brother, E.J. Sell of Wichita Falls; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the National Cancer Institute.
