Obituary

Richard D. Scott, 85, of Plainview passed away Friday, May 13, 2011, in Plainview. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2011, in Plainview Memorial Park with the Rev. Roger Foote, pastor of Colonial Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Richard was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Plainview to Jesse and Sara Jane Scott. He grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines, New Guinea and Japan during World War II. He married Evelyn Rannals on Dec. 30, 1950, in Clovis, N.M. She preceded him in death Feb. 13, 2009. He was employed by Western Ag for 18 years and retired in 1990. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Scott; two sons, Gary Scott and Ronnie Scott; and one brother, Billy Don Scott. Survivors include his grandson, Cody Scott of Amarillo, and his granddaughter, Stefanie Harris of Amarillo. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O.
