Funeral services for Dearl Gene Scott, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Colonial Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Malcolm, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Scott died Monday, March 14, 2005, at his residence. He was born March 9, 1941, in Direct, Texas. He moved to Plainview in 1950 and worked as a department manager of building materials for Sears & Roebuck for 14 years. He also worked for J.B. Roberts Realtors in maintenance for several years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the American Legion and Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church. On July 15, 1961, he married Merline Althaus in Wichita, Kan. Survivors include his wife; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Danny and Linda Scott of Lubbock and Craig Scott of Plainview; a daughter, Linda Smotherman of Plainview; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Peggy Scott of Plainview; two sisters and a brother-in-law, JoAnn Looney and Peggy Ray and Mike Smith, all of Paris, Texas; his mother-in-law, Bertha Sisk of Plainview; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family will receive visitors from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
