Obituary

Funeral services for Shirley Schur, 67, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Gerald Boerger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Schur died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at 10 a.m. at her residence. She was born Shirley Blair on July 11, 1935, in Vernon where she grew up and graduated from high school. She married Arthur Schur on Aug. 10, 1956, in Vernon. They moved to the Plainview area in 1960 then to Alvin where they lived for several years before returning to Plainview in 1996. Mrs. Schur was a past member of TOPS and an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Susan Chesik of West Paterson, N.J., and Karla Williams of Plainview; one son, Darren Schur of League City; one step-daughter, Charlotte Hawley of Vernon; three sisters, Mary Martin of Hobbs, N.M., Rosey Ellena of Plainview and Bell Jobe of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Rocky and Jodie Chesik and Renae and Jeff Hawley. The family suggests memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Hospice Hands of West Texas in Lockney.
