PLAINVIEW - Lena Elizabeth Dieter Schmidt, 96, died Tuesday, July 1, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with David Jeske, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery.

Mrs. Schmidt was born in Olney and attended school in the Providence community. She married Otto William "Willie'' Schmidt in 1920 at Floydada. He died in 1978.

She was a homemaker. She was confirmed at the age of 17 in the Lutheran church. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in the Providence community before transferring to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in 1963. Mrs. Schmidt was a charter member of the Ladies Aid at Trinity Lutheran and a member of Lutheran Women Missionary League at St. Paul's Lutheran. She also was a supporter of Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.

She lived in Westridge Manor from 1985 to 1995, when she moved to Prairie House Living Center. Survivors include two half-brothers, Delbert Dieter of Kentucky and Robert Dieter of Oregon.
