Schmalzried, Clarence Edwin

Funeral services for Clarence Edwin Schmalzried, 92, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lemons Funeral Home Chapel with J.W. Hamby, an elder of Garland Street Church of Christ and Russell Harris, minister of Garland Street Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will be in Parklawn Memorials Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Schmalzried died at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2003, in Covenant Hospital Plainview.

He was born March 13, 1911, in Andrews, Ind. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a longtime Plainview resident. He formerly operated the lunch counter at West Pharmacy.

On June 25, 1945, he married Alta McCarty in Plainview. She died June 17, 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Sue Thurmon of Lubbock and Wanda Graham of Cactus; two sons, Mack Schmalzried of Plainview and Wendell Reeder of Clarksville; a brother, John Thomas Schmalzried of Lincoln, N.M. 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
