Obituary

Memorial services for Dale Russell, 82, of Plainview will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bartley Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Ritter, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. He passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. He was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Panhandle to George Lee and Viola Russell. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany from 1946-48. He graduated from West Texas State College in 1951. He went to graduate school at Texas A&M from 1971-72. He taught building trades at Plainview High School from 1970-76. He was a contractor from 1959-80. He was a pilot and loved to fly planes. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. Survivors include his wife, Billye Jean Russell of Plainview; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Lillian Russell of San Angelo and Kelly and Norita of Tow; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Ruben Gutierrez of Plainview; one sister, Marlys R. Hickmott of Amarillo; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers and two sisters.
