Obituary

J.J. Rushing dies at Bowie ; Rites here tomorrow. The body of J.J. Rushing, 81, is to arrive this afternoon by Lemons ambulance from the Bowie clinic where he died Tuesday morning. The funeral is to e Thursday afternoon, probably at 4 o'clock, at the First Baptist Church here and burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery beside the grave of his wife who died six or seven years ago. Mr. Rushing broke his hip about two weeks ago when he fell at his home here and was taken to Bowie to be near a son, J.E., who lives at Ringgold. His condition seemed satisfactory the first few days and then became continually worse. The body is to remain at the Lemons chapel until funeral time. In 1900 Mr. Rushing moved to Plainview from Rising Star, Eastland county. He was a rancher and later dealt in real estate.
He retired about ten years ago. One daughter and seven sons survive. They are: Mrs. Beulah Scudder, Slaton; B.E. Rushing, Paris; J.E. Rushing, Ringgold; Willie Boyd, O.T., Horace and Charlie Rushing, all of California; and Grover, Chicago. One daughter, Mrs. Corda Cowden is deceased. Mrs. Scudder, B.E. and J.E. Rushing are expected today. Horace Rushing is coming tomorrow and it is thought that some of the other California sons might accompany him.
