Obituary

Martha Rundell, 74, of Plainview passed away on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Foote, pastor of Colonial Baptist Church, officiating and Mr. Clay Lewis assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at the funeral home. Martha was born on Feb. 22, 1940, in Sherman, Texas, to J.C. and Minnie Bernard. She married Weldon "Pete" Rundell on Sept. 2, 1977, in Plainview. He preceded her death on Jan. 8, 2003. She was a member of the Ladies Golf Association at PCC, and an avid bowler for more than 40 years. She enjoyed traveling with her bowling friends to state and national bowling tournaments. She was very talented - loved to paint, an exceptional seamstress and a wonderful cook. She loved working in her yard. She was always up for a game of Scrabble in which she had a competitive spirit. BINGO was one her favorite pastime activities. She was in the Living Water Emmaus community which strengthened her faith in her Lord and Savior. In the late '70s owned owned he NearlyNew Shop, in the '80s she owned Meg's Monograms and retired in the '90s. She loved being a friend to others, and was always known for putting their needs before hers. She was a doting Nanny to Leigh Ann, Bradley and Keila. Her greatest treasures were her great-grandchildren Devon, Kiersten, Brogan, Brynnlee, Hunter and Hallee. Her passing has left a hole in many people's hearts. Her humor, words of encouragement, love and friendship will be greatly missed. Martha was also preceded in death by her parents and a son Paul Barnes. Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Williams and husband Billy of Plainview; Jerry Barnes and wife Denise of Lamesa; one sister, Betty Thompson of Rochester; three grandchildren, Leigh Ann Plumlee and husband Kyle of Lubbock; Bradley Williams and wife Kasey of Roscoe, Kelia Haning and husband of Edmond, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Devon Ford, Kiersten Williams, Brogan Plumlee, Brynnlee Plumlee, Hunter Buchanan and Halle Buchanan.
