Obituary

Funeral services for Eliodoro "Jackson" Ruiz, 79, of Plainview will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church Chapel in Plainview with the Rev. Jerry Moore, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Wood Dunning Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Ruiz died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Providence Health Care Center in Waco. He was born Jan. 29, 1929, in El Capote Ranch to Mauricio and Lucinda "Jackson" Ruiz. He married Gregoria Bruno on Jan. 13, 1953, in Edinburg. He was in the Army and served during the Korean War. He was a Methodist and worked for R.C. Hodges as an electrician for many years. His parents; wife; and five brothers, Erasmo J. Ruiz, Alfredo J. Ruiz, Rodolfo J. Ruiz, Mauricio J. Ruiz, and Benito J. Ruiz, are deceased. Survivors include seven sons, Eliodoro Ruiz Jr., Jesse Ruiz, Zacarias Ruiz, David Ruiz, Rene Ruiz, Guadalupe Ruiz and Hector Ruiz, all of Plainview; one daughter, Marisela Davila of Hewitt; one sister, Irene Gonzales of McAllen; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
