Obituary

Funeral services for Kathlyn McCormick Ross, 79, were at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church. Burial was in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Ross died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at her residence in Hale Center. She was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Altus, Okla., where she grew up. She moved to Hale County in 1946. On Sept. 6, 1946, she married V.D. Ross Jr. He died Jan. 8, 1987. Survivors include one daughter, Monica Ross Weidman and husband, Duke, of Austin; two sisters, Anabel Smith and husband, Rabon, of Slidell, La., and Jean Burrows and husband, Hiram, of Lewisville; one granddaughter, Kimberly Gibson Saldana and husband, Abel, of Lewisville; two great-granddaughters, Alexandria Kathlyn Saldana and Krystyn Noelle Saldana, both of Lewisville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, one daughter, one sister, her father and mother are deceased. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a farmer's wife for 60 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hale Center. Laughter in Life, Strength in Independence, Beauty in Faith, Heart in Friendship, Hope in Love, Devotion in Family. The family received friends from 6-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
