Obituary

Funeral Mass for Matias Romero Sr., 75, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Bartley Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Bartley Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Romero died Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock. He was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Ohio. He moved to Plainview from Dimmitt 17 years ago and was a truck mechanic for Bill's Truck Service. He was a Catholic Survivors include his wife, Lupe, of Brownfield; six sons and five daughters-in-law, David and Elisa Romero, Matias and Nora Romero Jr. and Joe and Priscilla Romero, all of Plainview, Andy Romero of Lubbock, Mark and Rachel Romero of Olton and Eric and Cindy Romero of Brownfield; four daughters and four sons-in-law, Sandra and Paul Alvarado and Chris and Rena Siller, all of Brownfield, Mary and Oscar Guerra of Goliad, and Melissa and David Garcia of Olton; 31 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Two sons, Daniel and Luke Romero, are deceased.
