Obituary

Keith Rogers, 70, of Petersburg, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, in Abilene. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Petersburg. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church in Petersburg from 5:30-7 p.m. today. Keith was born Sept. 22, 1938, in Estelline, Texas, to Clyde W. and Opal Faye (Tyner) Rogers. He graduated from Estelline High School in 1957. He was a sergeant in the military police in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated a gas station in Quitaque. He later worked as a purchasing agent for Wylie Manufacturing for 40 years, retiring in 2008. He married Rebecca Holcomb on April 8, 1960, in Turkey, Texas. They raised their family in Petersburg where he was a member of the Petersburg Fire Department and served as fire chief and firefighter. Rebecca preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 2003. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Petersburg. Keith enjoyed spending time at his home at Lake Kemp with family and special friends Bert and Rose Grimes. Survivors include two children, Brian Rogers and his wife, Nancy, of Eastland and Jayne Rogers of Petersburg; a brother, Tommy Rogers and his wife, Jan, of Lodi, Wis.; two sisters, Janice Hughes and her husband, Butch, of Flomot and Marsha Blake of Lubbock; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Thornton of Lubbock; grandchildren, Neely and Russell Burrow of Graham, Robby King and fianc?e, Rye, of Phoenix, Ariz., Misty Thornton and fianc?e, Phillip Ray, of Georgetown, Latasha and Joey Donaramo of Stillwater, Okla., Sarah and Justin Sellers of Stephenville, Cagney Rogers of Granbury, Marci Mulkey of Amarillo, Zachary Mulkey of Petersburg and Cheyenne Thornton of Lubbock; two great-grandsons, Hayden Keith and Barron Burrows of Graham; a special granddaughter, Missy and Chris Blakely and daughter Reese; close friend and companion, Joyce Bruington of Petersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Russell Burrows, Joey Donarumo, Justin Sellers, Chris Blakely, Phillip Ray and Rodney Clunch. Honorary pallbearers will be Bert Grimes, Jesse Marquez and Steve Zapata.
