Graveside services for Grady Rogers, 98, longtime resident of Abernathy, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at the Abernathy I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Steve Gauntt, minister of the Church of Christ, will officiate.
Mr. Rogers passed away Monday, April 11, in El Paso, where he resided for the last nine years.
Moses Grady Rogers was born Sept. 20, 1906 in Benton, Tenn. Grady was the eighth of nine children born to Mose and Rachel Rogers. On June 28, 1938, he married Lucile Wilkins. A lifelong mechanic, Grady retired from the Dr. Pepper/7-Up Company of Lubbock. Many will remember his great sense of humor and love of life. Papa we will miss you.
He was preceded in death by his wife. Two daughters, Janeane Herring of Abernathy, and Lou Ellen Clement of El Paso, survive him and their husbands, Richard Herring and Kenneth Clement, are the sons he never had. He had five grandchildren, Roger, Kaila and Stacia Clement, and Eric and Emily Herring; and a great-grandchild, Kylie Herring.
