Funeral services for Gordon Rogers, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Rogers died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Hale Center to Luther and Ruth Rowland Rogers. He grew up in the Plainview area and farmed until World War II. During the war, he served in the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division. He went through France, Germany and Austria in the Battle of the Bulge. He also was involved in the liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp. After the war, he owned and operated Rogers Texaco from 1951-90 when he retired. He married Jo Ann Harvey on Nov. 8, 1949, in Clovis, N.M. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Pastor's Class. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Rogers of Plainview; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronny and Jill Rogers of Amarillo and Glenn and Shelda Rogers of Plainview; three grandchildren and a spouse, Brandy and Russell Wilson, Chesna Rogers and Luke Rogers; and one great-grandaughter, Sydney Wilson.
