Obituary

Tomasa Salazar Rodriguez, 73, of Plainview, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, in Lubbock. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview. Father Samuel Oracion will be the officiant. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Lemons Memorial Chapel with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Tomasa was born Nov. 4, 1937, in Robstown, Texas, to Felipe and Dolores (Martinez) Salazar. Tomasa and Pedro C. "Pete" Rodriguez were married in Robstown in January 1954. Pete preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2006. Tomasa owned and operated Pete's Palladium in Plainview with Pete for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Tomasa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; one sister; and a daughter, Verna Rodriguez. Tomasa is survived by her children, Fernando Rodriguez and his wife, Bertha, of Lubbock, Texas; Virginia Champion of Plainview, Texas; Pete Rodriguez Jr. of Vernon, Texas; Melissa Diaz of Plainview, Texas; brothers, Ricardo Salazar of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Felipe Salazar of Robstown, Texas; sisters, Ninfa Lara of Robstown, Texas, and Olga Sutherland of Portland, Texas; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
