Obituary

PETERSBURG - Funeral Mass for Paul Rodriguez Jr., 72, were at 3 p.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Timothy E. Judd and the Rev. Louis Dussan officiating. Burial was in Petersburg Cemetery by White Funeral Home of Lubbock. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Rodriguez died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born Nov. 11, 1928, in Runge, the son of the late Pablo Sr. and Victoria Juaquez Rodriguez. He moved to Petersburg from Kenedy in 1952 and owned Paul?s Dry Cleaning for 12 years, worked at First State Bank as custodial engineer for 35 years and Wylie Manufacturing for six years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and playing pool. He also played the drums for the senior citizens. He was a member of Petersburg Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. On Feb. 27, 1949, he married Francis Ochoa in Beeville. Survivors include his wife; his stepmother, Vella Rodriguez of Floresville; two sons, Charles Rodriguez of Edmond, Okla., and Danny Rodriguez of Lubbock;
three daughters, Alice Moralez and Esther Cruz, both of Dallas, and Velma Juarez of Amarillo; three brothers, Marcelo Rodriguez of Wellington, David Rodriguez of Lubbock and Richard Rodriguez of Karnes City; three sisters, Olivia Rodriguez of San Angelo and Margarita Rodriguez and Rafelia Garcia, both of Floresville; and 10 grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Petersburg, TX 79250 or to the American Heart Association, 3403 73rd St., Lubbock, TX 79423.
