Rodriguez, Domingo, Mrs. (Esmeralda Leija)

Funeral Mass for Esmeralda Leija Rodriguez, 57, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church with the Rev. Roland Buxkemper officiating.

Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by White Funeral Home.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in St. Philip Benizi Church.

Mrs. Rodriguez died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in University Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 16, 1943, in Weslaco. She attended Petersburg schools and continued to live in Petersburg until 1958. After her marriage to Domingo Rodriguez, they lived in Plainview for 20 years. In 1976 she moved to Petersburg and worked for Caprock Home Care. She moved to Idalou in 1995.

She was a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church.

Survivors include her mother, Hiliria Ramirez of Idalou; nine sons, Sammy, Santos, Scott, Saul, Steven and Simon Rodriquez, all of Amarillo, Donnie and Eddie Silva, both of Idalou, and Eric Silva of Petersburg; five daughters, Sandra Rubio and Sally Flores, both of Amarillo, Sara Rodriquez of Petersburg, Lee Ann Garcia of California and Kelly Ann Leija of Idalou; nine brothers, John and Noel Leija, both of Wisconsin, Rubin Leija and Willie Marquez, both of Waco, Jesse, David, Jimmy, Benny and Cleto Marquez, all of Petersburg; 39 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
