Funeral Mass for Alfonso Vargas Rodriguez, 99, of Plainview will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymundo Manriquez officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Rodriguez died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, in Plainview. He was born Aug. 2, 1911, in San Juan del Rio, Durango, Mexico to Agustin and Fransisca Vargas Rodr?guez. He married Simona Morales Najera in San Juan del Rio in March 1933. She died May 18, 1992. He was a farmer for 40 years in Mexico. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include sons, Roman Rodriguez of Cantlan, Durango, Mexico, Antonio Rodriguez of Plainview, Rafael Rodriguez of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Amparo Rodriguez of San Juan del Rio, Durango, Mexico, and Alfonso Rodriguez Jr. of Fresno, Calif.; daughters, Hortencia Licerio, Elida Cruz, Mary Zamarripa and Paty Borja, all of Plainview, and Guadalupe Limon of Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico; a brother, Isaac Rodriguez of Durango, Mexico; 66 grandchildren, 164 great-grandchildren, and 39 great-great-grandchildren. His parents; his wife; a son, Luis Rodriguez; a daughter, Fransisca Ruiz; four brothers; and two sisters are deceased.
