Obituary

Jean Kemp Heye Roberts, 86, of Plainview passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, in the chapel of First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas. Mrs. Roberts was born Dec. 7, 1922, in Frankell, Texas, to David Houston and Clara Marie Corn Kemp. Growing up, she lived near the oil fields of West Texas, San Antonio and Ingleside, Texas. She graduated from Ingleside High School in 1940 and went on to earn her R.N. from Hermann Hospital School of Nursing in Houston. During nursing school she met medical intern Randall G. Heye. They were married Jan. 13, 1943. Before settling their family in Plainview in 1951, they lived in Baltimore, Md., and Houston, Texas. Known to her friends and family as Jean, Frau or Ma Ma, she was mother to her three children, Kathy, Abigail and Randy (Randall G. Heye Jr.), who passed away in May 1995. For 53 years she was the loving wife of Randall G. Heye, M.D., who preceded her in death. She was then married to Roy Roberts, M.D., for 11 years. Jean loved her children and the involvement she had in their activities. She helped in Scouts, with the band under the direction of O.T. Ryan and Chief Davidson and church activities. Jean also was involved in Junior Service League, PTA, Delphin Club, Art Association, Bridge Club, Well Baby Clinic, D.A.R., P.E.O. and Investment Club. She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Heye Dunbabin of Hermosa Beach, Calif., and Abigail Heye Lowe and husband, Lawson, of Riverside, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Mary Ruth Haynes Heye Roberts and husband, Mike, of High Rolls, N.M.; grandchildren, Jennifer Lowe Krueger, David Lowe, Tom Dunbabin, Sara Heye and Rand Heye; and great-grandchildren, Mia Krueger, Marlowe Krueger and Charlotte Lowe. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial to First United Methodist Church, 1001 W. Seventh Street, Plainview, TX 79072, or a charity of choice
