Obituary

ABERNATHY - Graveside services for Norma Day Roberts, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Abernathy Cemetery with the Rev. Luis Dussan, pastor of St. Isidore Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mrs. Roberts died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001. She was born Jan. 4, 1924 in Dallas, the daughter of James W. Sr. and Erlene Townsend Day. Mrs. Roberts served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1944-1946 and was discharged in San Francisco, California. She married Capt. Roy a Roberts in Big Spring. He died in October 1956. She was a psychiatric medical assistant for Dr. John T. Miller in Lubbock for a number of years and a published poet. She moved to Abernathy from Lubbock in 1975. Surviving are a daughter, Ruth; a brother, James Day; and a grandson. The family suggests memorials to the Women and Children's Protective Services, P.O.
