Obituary

PETERSBURG - Funeral services for Latane Hale Roberson, 86, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Main Street Church of Christ with Owen Carr officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mrs. Roberson died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001 at her residence. She was born Sept. 5, 1915, in Paris, Texas, the daughter of the late John Samuel and Stella Traylor Hale, and moved to Floyd County in 1918. From the age of 10, she was raised by her stepmother, Mattie Eugenia Duncan Hale. She graduated from Floydada High School and attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview. She was a homemaker and active in Petersburg PTA, Lions Club, 4-H Club, Chamber of Commerce Beautification Association, the Lubbock Women?s Club and Lubbock Christian
University Associates. She was a member of Main Street Church of Christ. On July 28, 1934, she married Kenneth Roberson in Roswell, N.M. He died May 4, 2000. Survivors include a son, Kenneth A. Roberson Jr., of Austin; a daughter, Dolores R. Bennett of Lubbock; a brother, Sammy Hale of Floydada; a sister, Mona Rainer of San Diego, Calif.; and six grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Billie Bruington, Doug Ellison, Troy Fox, Doug Graham, Clint Gregory and Don Hegi. Honorary pallbearer will be Sam Hemphill. The family will receive visitors until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home in Abernathy and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Main Street Church of Christ.
