Funeral services for Robert "Doug" Rivers, 54, of Plainview will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bartley Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Rivers died Sunday, April 29, 2012, in Plainview. He was born Sept. 5, 1957, in Oak Cliff to Joe and Dimple Inez Rivers. He married Vanessa Brittian on Aug. 11, 2001, in Plainview. He was an ACI-certified concrete technician and worked for Thrasher Inc. for many years. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Misti Mobley and husband Jerry of Kaufman; three stepdaughters, Amanda Burt and Jessica Alderson, both of Plainview, and Wendy Lurey and husband Brian of Dallas; three stepsons, Chris Burt and wife Dawn, Robert Burt and wife Jami, and Matthew Alderson and wife Beverly, all of Plainview; one sister, Jolene Skaggs and husband Mark of Smyrna, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
