Obituary

Josefina "Josie" Rivera, 71, of Plainview passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at Covenant Hospital Plainview. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at St. Alice Catholic Church with Msgr. Curtis Halfmann officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Rivera was born Nov. 16, 1936, in Mission, Texas, to Felipe and Maria Refugia Hurtado. She married Fred Rivera on Dec. 14, 1968, in Mission. They lived in Hereford for several years and moved to Plainview in 1997. They owned Rivera Produce, Inc., where she was bookkeeper. Survivors include her husband, Fred Rivera of Plainview; one brother, Gabriel Hurtado of Mission, Texas; three sisters, Raquel Hurtado of Mission, Texas, Maria DeLaLuz Ochoa of Mission, Texas, and Maria Hurtado of San Antonio, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved Scottish Terrier, Alexander. Viewing will be held from 1-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
