Obituary

Maria Rivera, 48, of Plainview passed away Friday, May 2, 2008, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at Primera Iglesia Bautista with the Rev. Joe Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Rivera was born July 11, 1959, in Plainview, Texas, to Crescencio and Virgilia Landeros. She married Carlos Rivera Jr. on Sept. 29, 1990. Mrs. Rivera worked as a teacher at First Presbyterian Church and was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista. She is survived by her husband, Carlos Rivera Jr.; one son, David Andrew Rivera of Plainview; her father, Crescencio Landeros of Harlingen; five brothers, Pedro and Teresa Landeros, Mario and Mary Landeros, Jesse Landeros and Avimelet Landeros, all of Plainview, and David and Lisa Landeros of Howe, Okla.; and three sisters, Ana Maria Landeros and Carmen and Jerry Salazar, all of Plainview, and Irma and Noe Valles of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virgilia Landeros. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday evening in Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.
