Obituary
Jack Donald Ritchey, 89, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, in Plainview. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. in the Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Jack was born on June, 23, 1926, to Dillard and Callie Ann Ritchey in Dalhart, Texas. He joined the United States Navy right after graduation in 1943. After his time in the Navy he returned home and attended West Texas State College where he met Maurine, the love of his life. They were married on April 8, 1950. He was a teacher for 35 years, teaching 8th grade science at Estacado Junior High for most of those years. He is preceded in death by his parents Dillard and Callie Ann Ritchey; one son William "Bill" Ritchey; and one sister Maxine Shewbert. He is survived by his wife Maurine Ritchey of Plainview, Texas; two sons Donald Ritchey of Batavia, Illinois, and Stephen Ritchey of Houston, Texas; one sister, Joan Hicks of Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren, Maj. Heather Ritchey of New York, Capt. Ashley Ritchey of Washington, D.C., Capt. Brandon Ritchey of West Point, New York, Mary Kate Ritchey and Jacob Ritchey, both of Arlington, Texas, Autumn Ritchey and Robert Ritchey of Houston, Texas. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions in Jack's name can be sent to the Unger Memorial Library, 825 Austin St., Plainview, TX 79072 or the First United Methodist Church, 1001 W. Seventh St., Plainview, TX 79072.
