Obituary

Funeral services for Daniel Rodriguez Rios Jr., 59, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005, at Bartley Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Santos Rodriguez, pastor of Iglesia Bautista Date Street Church, officiating. Interment will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Rios died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Covenant Hospital in Plainview. He was born Feb. 24, 1946, in Kelberg County, Texas, and married Trinidad Villa in Plainview. He moved to Plainview from Floydada and had resided here for 46 years. He drove a truck for Edcot in Plainview and worked for various cotton gins driving module trucks. He was preceded in death by his wife, Trinidad; his parents, Daniel I. Rios and Paula R. Rios; a brother, Roman Rios; and a sister, Sandra Gaeta. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lou R. Picasso with husband Ernest of Plainview, and Paula R. Gutierrez with husband Robert of Kingsville; three brothers, Antonio Rios with wife Elizabeth of Corpus Christi, Lorenzo Rios with wife Herlinda of Kingsville and Antero Rios of San Diego, Calif.; five sisters, Herminia Gonzalez with husband Manuel of Laredo, Antonia Gonzalez with husband Mo of Kingsville, Paula Rosas of Houston, Anita Coronado of San Diego, Calif., and Ramona Delgado with husband Manuel of San Diego; three grandchildren, Ernest Picasso Jr. of Plainview, Robert Fernandez Jr. of Kingsville and Sabrina Fernandez of Kingsville; a great-grandson, Ernest Picasso III of Plainview; and longtime best friend Elodia Deleon of Plainview. He had an extended family, extended grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Bartley Funeral Home.
