Obituary
Elouise Brewster Rieff of Cotton Center passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009, in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, in First Baptist Church of Plainview with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Kenneth Coates assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation for family and friends will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today, March 13, 2009, at the funeral home. Mrs. Rieff was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Taylor County, Texas, to Thomas Albert and Eulala Fain Brewster. She married Henry Rieff on June 8, 1947, in Cotton Center, Texas. Mrs. Rieff grew up in Cotton Center and graduated from Cotton Center High School in 1943. She received a bachelor's degree in education and master's degree from Hardin-Simmons in 1946. She taught school at Highland Elementary in Plainview. She also taught kindergarten and first grade in Cotton Center for 18 years. Mrs. Rieff was the director of the Hale County Farm and Ranch Museum from 1986-2007. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Plainview. Elouise is survived by her husband, Henry Rieff of Cotton Center; four sons, Ronnie Rieff and his wife, Thresa, of Lubbock, Jerry Rieff and his wife, Marion, of Hale Center, Burt Rieff and his wife, Lynne, of Florence, Ala., and David Rieff and his wife, Sydney, of Amarillo; two sisters, Joyce Neis of Plainview and Tommye Ruth Stallings of Abernathy; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
