Obituary

Funeral services for Irene (Reeves) Richardson, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lemons Memorial Chapel in Plainview with Pastor Jim Reinbolt officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Richardson passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at a Lubbock care facility. Irene was born Jan. 26, 1920, to Henry K. Reeves and Martha Othela (Hester) Reeves in Floyd County near Thalia. She had lived in Plainview since 1938. Irene married Jesse Richardson on Sept. 22, 1942, in Little Rock, Ark., where he was serving as a member of the United States Army. She was a registered nurse (RN) for more than 45 years. Irene worked as an obstetrics nurse at Plainview Hospital for more than 20 years and later served as a school nurse for more than 20 years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. Irene enjoyed doing arts and crafts and quilting. She also was a talented bowler and a member of First Baptist Church of Plainview. Irene was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings. She is by survived her husband of 67 years, Jesse Richardson of Plainview; her son, Mike Richardson and his wife, Lila, of Acuff; her daughter, Deborah Miller, of Plainview; her grandchildren, Mike Richardson Jr., Cody Richardson, J.J. Richardson and Stephen Miller; and six great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made in Irene Richardson's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
