Manuel Reyes, 81, of Plainview, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview with Father Arsenio Redulla officiating. Interment will follow the service in Plainview Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today, Sept. 10, 2013, at the funeral home. Manuel Reyes was born on Aug. 24, 1932, in Durango, Mexico. He and Consuelo Reyes were married in May 1972 in Juarez, Mexico. Manuel was an extremely hardworking man, and worked for many years at Excel Meat Packing, which later became Cargill. He enjoyed watching sports, especially Texas Rangers Baseball. Manuel loved to laugh, joke and talk, and enjoyed spending time with his large family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Manuel is survived by his children, Gilberto Cordero; Belia Ortiz and her husband, Mauricio; and Casiano Cordero and his wife Maria, all of Plainview; Carla Cordero of Albuquerque, N.M.; Bertha Rivera and her husband, Emeterio; and Juan Manuel Reyes, all of Plainview; 37 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 49 great-great-grandchildren.
