Reyes, Demetrio

LUBBOCK-Funeral services for Demetrio Reyes, 80, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Flint Avenue Baptist Church with David Caballero officiating.

Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. today in the same church.

Burial will be in the Abernathy Cemetery by Rix Funeral Directors.

Mr. Reyes died Wednesday, April 4, 2001.

He was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Runge. He moved to Lubbock in 1947 and was an agriculture contractor and retired from Jones Produce. He was a Pentecostal.

On June 14, 1937, he married Josefina Garcia in Karnes City. She died Oct. 7, 2000.

Survivors include eight daughters, Elousia Tamez, Sofia Beltran, Nellie Reyes, Amy Morin, Gracie Reyes and Gloria Reyes, all of Lubbock, Benita Garcia of Petersburg and Ofelia Miranda of Lorenzo; seven sons, Fidencio, Cruz, Rudy, and Elias Reyes, all of Lubbock, Lupe Reyes of Levelland and Felix and Frank Reyes, both of Petersburg; two sisters, Paula Perez of New Deal and Francisca Flores of Lubbock; a brother, Thomas Reyes of Olustee, Okla.; 76 grandchildren; 135 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

The body will be at the church until 9 p.m. today.
