Graveside services for Amelia May ?Sis? Ray, 93, of Midland former Plainview resident, were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview.

Burial arrangements were by McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.

Mrs. Ray died Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

She was born Sept. 17, 1909, in Gonzales. She graduated from Texas Tech with a bachelor?s degree in education and taught school in Abernathy for 43 years. She moved from Plainview to Andrews in 1992 and to Midland in 1996.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and The Order of the Eastern Star in Abernathy. She was a past member of First Baptist Church in Abernathy and Plainview.

In 1947, she married Wade. H. Ray in Plainview. He died in 1981.

Survivors include one son, Jim Ray of Austin; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A son, Billy Gene Ray, died in 2003; sisters Ruth Jameson in 1986, Edna Perry in 1991 and Mozelle Windwehen in 2000; and a brother, Max Windwehen, died in 1995.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
