Obituary

Funeral services for Louise "Cool Lou" Ray, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at United Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael White, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood Dunning Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Ray died Friday, March 11, 2011, in Plainview. She was born May 3, 1922, to Sam and Adell Williams in Franklin. She moved to Plainview in 1952 from Kress. She married Leslie Leon Ray on June 10, 1939, in Franklin. She worked as a cook for Wayland Baptist University and Wee Care Child Center. She was a member of United Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Kurtis Ray of Dallas, Mack Ray of Oklahoma City and Allan Ray of Plainview; four daughters, Leslie Compton and Janice Hall, both of Plainview, Carolyn Turner of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Ora Harris of Odessa; one sister, Ollie T. Bonds of Midland; 36 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, two sisters and five brothers.
