Obituary

Funeral services for Edwin Ray, 84, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Genesis Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonel Gonzales, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. Ray died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at Plainview Healthcare Center. He was born Jan. 9, 1921, in Drew County, Ark., to Tom and Ella Ray. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-44, during World War II. He move to Lockney in 1951 and farmed until he retired in 1990. On June 11, 1998, he married Janie Garcia in Plainview. Survivors include his wife; eight daughters, Dyann Ramos of Lubbock, Levell Sanchez of Garden City, Kan., Marie Bermea of Floydada, Lydia Rodriguez of Odessa, Delia Castillo of Minnesota and Linda Paramo, Eunice Marie Ramos and Maria Jimenez, all of Plainview; six sons, Harold Green of Dumas, Edward Green of Garden City, Kan., Arnold Bermea, Marcello Bermea and Jesse Bermea all of Minnesota, and Ricardo Ramirez of Plainview; 54 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.
