Funeral services for Ausin Ragland, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Curch Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mr. Ragland died at 3:25 a.m. today, Nov. 13, 2003, in Covenant Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 30, 1915, in Lakeview; the son of the late Harry and Lily Mae Mormon Ragland. He was living in Honolulu at the time of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and later served as a navigator with the U.S. Air Force in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He returned to Plainview after the war and founded Ragland's Western Wear.
He served as president of the Hale County Sheriff's Posse, Plainview Rodeo Associaition and Plainview Fat Stock Show and was a former director of Hale County State Bank.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
On April 2, 1943, he married Joan Looper Ragland in Austin. She died in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Penny Elliott, of Plainvew; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronny and Jan Ragland of Plainview; a sister, Veldean Harrison of Cedar Park; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A brother, Eugene Ragland, is deceased.
