Obituary

Funeral services for Justo Quintana, 93, of Hale Center, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Anton with the Rev. Rush Coffman officiating. Burial will be Hale Center Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield. Mr. Quintana died at 2 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, in Knight's Nursing Home in Littlefield. He was born Feb. 25, 1909, in Fort Sumner, NM. He moved to Hale Center in the 1920s and worked as a farm laborer. On Jan. 7, 1933 he married Stella Lucero in Lubbock and they were the first Spanish-speaking family in the area. He was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed working in his yard and garden. Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughtes-in-law, Roman and Sandy Quintana of Planview and John and Olga Quintana of Hale Center; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and the Rev. Rush Coffman of Anton; five grandchildren, Tony Quintana and Sally McDonald, both of Amarillo, Tracy Rosales of Brownfield, Debbie Quintana of Hale Center and Keri Coffman of Anton; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Anton First Baptist Church Van Fund, 401 Igoe, Anton, TX 79313.
