Obituary

Services for Minnie V. Presley, 86, of Abernathy, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Abernathy First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Lowrie, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

She died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, in Lubbock.

She was born Feb. 4, 1916, in Goree. She moved to Slaton with her family in 1921 and graduated from Union School. She married R.D. Presley on Jan. 24, 1933, in Slaton. He died Feb. 20, 1992. She farmed in County Line until moving to Abernathy in 1974. She was a member of County Line Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years. At the time of her death, she was a member of Abernathy First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Don Presley of Abernathy; a daughter, Angela Pope of Abernathy; a sister, Christine Day of Clovis, N.M.; a brother, George Gamble of Slaton; eight grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
