Funeral services for Sylvia Alvarado Ponce, 76, of Plainview will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bartley Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Arsenio Redulla officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Ponce died Monday Jan.16, 2012, in Plainview. She was born Dec. 23, 1935, in Laredo to Mary Gonzales and Rafael Alvarado. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include four sons, Benito Ponce of Minneapolis, Minn., Robert Ponce of St. Paul, Minn. and Mike Ponce and David Ponce, both of Plainview; nine daughters, Rosa Vallegio of Florida, Ralphlita Ortega and Reyna Ponce, both of St. Paul, Minn., Sophia Ponce of Mankato, Minn., and Mary Ponce, Cruz Ponce, Cookie Ponce, Vicky Ponce DeCiga and Elena Ponce Gomez, all of Plain?view; 32 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
